Programs of Study

ÃÈÃÃÊÓƵ offers three different sequences to meet the biological needs of its students. Courses cater to students who are pursuing fields far removed from sciences as well as students planning to major in such programs as Nursing, Radiological Technology, Medical Lab Technology or another allied health program. To assure proper direction into the appropriate sequence, students are strongly urged to seek the assistance of a ÃÈÃÃÊÓƵ advisor. Courses are offered in Biology, Human Biology, Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, General Microbiology and Human Gross Anatomy/Pathophysiology.

ÃÈÃÃÊÓƵ is one of a few community colleges in the country to have a Human Gross Anatomy Lab. The laboratory perspective allows students to enhance their comprehension of the human body. While the dissection courses are limited to a small number of students, all students in the Human Anatomy and Physiology courses will have the opportunity to view human anatomic structures as they study the human body’s organ system. 

The Chemistry Department offers quality chemical training for non-science majors as well as in-depth training to prepare students for professional programs, such as Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy and Engineering. Courses are offered in Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.

Poultry Science

The Poultry Science Program is an innovative partnership between ÃÈÃÃÊÓƵ and Auburn University. The 2+2 Poultry Science Program gives students the opportunity to complete their freshman and sophomore years at ÃÈÃÃÊÓƵ Cherokee and their junior and senior years at Auburn, which result in a bachelor’s degree. 

Earth science courses are offered in two categories – Physical Science (the study of behavior and phenomena specific to earth) and Astronomy (the study of the universe as a whole). These courses are designed specifically for students who are pursuing non-science major academic degrees and need to fulfill the required two natural science courses with lab components for their degree programs.

Physics is the study of the universe that leads to the understanding of the behavior of all matter and energy. Is understanding of these behaviors that explain many everyday things, like how airplanes fly and why certain items sink of float. There are three types of courses offered at ÃÈÃÃÊÓƵ: Technical Physics, Trigonometry-based Physics and Calculus-based Physics.
